The way we work

You can call us to make an appointment for an exploratory talk (free of charge) of half an hour at maximum. During this meeting we will judge if your problem can be solved immediately. If this is not the case we will discuss the legal possibilities on how to address the issue and also give you an assessment of the feasibility of your case. Where necessary we will refer you to a specialized attorney/law firm or other authority. If you decide to hire Alcmaria Advocaten for your case, a file will be made.

We always try to avoid expensive lawsuits. We prefer reaching a satisfactory solution with the opponent as (unnecessary) litigating raises both costs and emotions. If dialogue between parties turns out to be impossible your lawyer will support you by word and deed and keep you well informed about important matters in your case.

As juridical issues often entail a lot of questions we attach importance to a good telephone accessibility. You can reach us as all times. If your lawyer is temporarily unavailable you can leave your message with one of our secretary’s.

The costs involved

During the first meeting we always check to see if you are entitled to receive subsidized legal aid from the Raad voor Rechtsbijstand (Legal Aid Board). Its aim is to make sure you will have legal representation should you require any. If you cannot afford a solicitor, the Council will provide financial support. Your solicitor will receive a ‘toevoeging’, a monetary allowance. You will pay part of the cost yourself. The size of your contribution depends on the height of your income. Please find all details regarding this procedure on the website of the Legal Aid Board: www.rvr.org.

If you are not entitled to the financial support we charge you the hourly rate of € 150,00. In some cases we can agree on a fixed rate. We always start by giving clarity about the fees and costs involved to avoid surprise-costs in the end.
